Boruto Episode 139 Release Date And Updates: Episode Delayed

Ibiki Returns in New Boruto

As the popular Naruto spinoff anime series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations prepares to launch a new story arc in 2020, the latest promo shows the return of a familiar face from the franchise: Ibiki Morino.
A preview and official stills from the anime series' 139th episode "The Terror! Enko Onikuma!" shows the scarred commander's arrival. The episode kicks off a new season that will follow Boruto and his friends' adventure as they team up with the eponymous ninja's father Naruto.
Ibiki is the commander of Konoha's intelligence division and interrogation forces. He enforces the law through torture and intimidation. Since the new season is adapting the manga's Mujina Bandits story arc, Ibiki will likely be summoned to investigate the bandits' activities.
While a stern, no-nonsense figure, Ibiki has previously been seen to show a more empathic, reasonable side, which may be key as he crosses paths with Boruto and his friends. However, in a new period of peace and prosperity shaken by the rise of bandits, Ibiki may have little time for compassion or patience as the new season commences.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, subtitled on Hulu and Crunchyroll, is available to stream. The anime series returns for its new season on Jan. 12.
